this person tried to scam me out of $3,000 worth of camera equipment as well. luckily i was suspicious enough to search around and found this site!
i received the exact same emails. i have also filed a report with the fbi and will soon be calling the registrar/host of nyc-traders.com and ebay as well. |

i too just got screwed by this guy. i sold him a camera for 1400.00 (or should i say i gave him a camera)the same as you read before happen to me. i too wish i found this site earlyer. so what can we do.

I found a very nice lady in the embassy in Moldova, who, although it wasn't her job, called the post office and acted as a translator for me. WHEN they get my package, they will send it back to me at once.
And of course, if they never DO get it, then I can claim insurance

I also found this forum too late. I shipped a $3000 video camera to this jackass in Moldova and am trying to figure out what to do.
The person and address I shipped to was: Irina Stanescu (her email was "Irina Musita" <irina@secureroot.com>) PUSKINA 75 APT 68V KISHINEV BENDER MOLDOVA 32000 the phone was 37379561859 (a mobile phone, no answer) I have been HAD. and would love to work together with you guys to get these people and get our money back....i tried the FBI, will go in in person in San Francisco tomorrow, and ebay seems useless. What can we do? feeling stupid, amanda. |

I hope you didn't register with a password that you used for other sites on the net ??
Change those passwords immediately if you did use elsewhere. Also, be watchful about what information you give them. YOU might be the lucky new registrant of their next new fake escrow service. If you gave then anything other than name and address, you're probably safe, but other personal info can be used for identity theft. Go to google.com and search Identity theft. |

I just made a report at my local FBI office but they had never heard of this scam before, so I would love to add my info to the agents in Chicago and Scotland Yard. Do we have a name for the agent in Chicago?

I found out this site too late. I got scammed for $800 brand new laptop. In fact I got suspicious about NY-Trades before I sent out the package becuase I tried to contact them but I didn't get any replies. But somehow I got convinced by the guy and I sent out the package. I have faxed to NY-Trades and sent a certified mail to them. But the address they show on their website actually is a empty building now. Now I am going to call FBI. Here is the information about the buy I was scammed by:

I cant remember what info the ny-trades website asked me to input to register with them, does anyone else? Was it just a password?
Ive been warned to change all my passwords and put a fraud alert with the credit agencies in the US. I just cant remember what info i may have input into that site. Heres some contact info for reporting this: In addition to calling your local FBI office (doesnt actually matter if its Chicago or your hometown) please make complaints online at www.ifccfbi.gov. If our losses total $100,000, they will do an investigation for sure. Also email the US embassy in Moldova: chisinauirc@pd.state.gov here is a copy of the letter i just sent them, i tried to include all the alaises id seen our bad-guy use on this forum: Hello, I would like to talk to somebody at the US Embassy in Moldova to alert them to a problem that apparently has been happening quite a bit over the past few weeks. I sold a $3000 camera on Ebay to a buyer from Moldova, and was a victim of escrow fraud. The buyer had set up an elaborate scam whereby they actually created a fake escrow service, used identity theft to use another Ebay users account and setup the fake escrow website, and got me to send the camera to Moldova. After I sent the camera, of course, the escrow website disappeared. After some research, I found at least a dozen other people who had been scammed by the same person since the beginning of December, and I understand at least one of them has contacted you. I have filed a report with the FBI and would love to alert local Moldovian authorities about the problem. I have attached my FBI report here as a PDF, but will also include the basics below. This will probably get you nowhere.
They post messages to various message boards looking for "partners". They offer to pay about a $1000 a month so you could provide "billing and shipping" for them. The guy in LA is not gonna know anything about them (Western Union is great, huh ?)... I think Interpol is the way to go though. I've almost shipped an item to them, but then their site was down and whois said the domain is on hold. Then I've found this page and you guys saved me about two grand... I have him on the hook now, if you have any FBI/Interpol case number (if they already have one), I'll be glad to help. |

When you register at their "escrow site", you enter a password.
I know many people use the same password everywhere, including email, paypal and such. If you're one of those people, CHANGE ALL YOUR PASSWORDS NOW, since the bastards have your current password and will use it to steel your identity or withdraw money from your accnts etc. |
